LED face mask safety: what studies and brands report
Short answer
In the 12 LED-relevant studies summarised here, side effects were few or absent where reported: five abstracts describe them and none reports a serious adverse event. A 2023 systematic review found no clinical trial linking red or near-infrared light with new or recurrent cancer, but its author is LYMA’s scientific lead and trials were not designed to detect rare cancers. Seven abstracts do not report side effects.
Side effects reported in the studies
Five of the twelve studies summarised here report side effects or safety findings in their abstract. The others do not mention them, which is not evidence either way.
